How the selections work

First released means the earliest documented official public release of the selected recording. A year-only date does not assert a month or day. Later singles, chart years, compilations, remasters and reissues do not replace that date.

Normal tiers select an editorial prefix before sorting. Search and Beyond the yearly lists inspect the full artist collection before the display limit is applied. Beyond refers to this app's annual selections; it does not imply that a song is obscure or new. When the version of a same-title annual entry is uncertain, its link is labeled provisional and the selection is excluded from Beyond until that match is reviewed.

Artist collections begin with the retained annual lists and explicitly reviewed artists from confirmed screenshot additions. Selections can cover the full career, including material outside 1960-2025. Collection length follows catalog depth and available evidence, with short introductions for smaller catalogs and more than 50 songs where useful. The fixed priority roster measures required annual-artist collection work. Optional screenshot-artist collections do not change that roster or its denominator.

Source links and recording details accompany every published song. Listening links search YouTube using the song title and credited artist.
