ARTIST BACKGROUND

About Missy Elliott

Missy Elliott developed as a songwriter and producer for other performers before becoming a prominent recording artist herself. Her partnership with Timbaland joined playful rap delivery to unconventional rhythms and futuristic studio textures. Her records move across hip-hop, R&B, funk and electronic sounds, while imaginative videos extend their visual identity. Singing, rapping, writing and production are connected parts of her career. Tracks credited to her with named guests preserve those collaborations without turning the guest performers into members of a group.

About this artist collection

Missy Elliott is the collection artist; each selected collaboration retains its released guest credit. The Nas, Eve and Q-Tip Hot Boyz remix is selected once, separately from the earlier album form. Guest performances by Missy on other artists' releases are not automatically reassigned to her solo identity.

First released means the earliest documented official public release of the selected recording. A year-only date does not assert a month or day. Later singles, chart years, compilations, remasters and reissues do not replace that date.
