ARTIST BACKGROUND

About Creedence Clearwater Revival

Creedence Clearwater Revival came from El Cerrito, California, despite the Southern settings evoked by its roots-rock and blues sound. John and Tom Fogerty, Stu Cook and Doug Clifford had played together before adopting the Creedence name. Their 1968 debut was followed by a concentrated run of albums including Bayou Country, Green River and Willy and the Poor Boys, with songs such as Proud Mary and Fortunate Son.

About this artist collection

Creedence Clearwater Revival is the band identity. John Fogerty and Tom Fogerty solo recordings, and the earlier Golliwogs billing, remain separate. Existing canonical IDs are retained.

First released means the earliest documented official public release of the selected recording. A year-only date does not assert a month or day. Later singles, chart years, compilations, remasters and reissues do not replace that date.
