ARTIST BACKGROUND

About Wings

Wings began in 1971 around Paul McCartney, Linda McCartney and Denny Laine. The group developed its own touring and studio life through a changing lineup, with Jimmy McCulloch and Joe English joining the core trio for Venus and Mars. At the Speed of Sound gave every band member a lead-vocal turn, making the ensemble's range especially clear. Their catalog combines concise singles, connected album passages, guitar-led performances and carefully layered vocal arrangements.

About this artist collection

Retains the actual annual Wings band identity, also historically billed as Paul McCartney and Wings. The official MPL programs identify the band and its changing personnel. Paul McCartney solo recordings, Paul and Linda's RAM, Country Hams recordings, later solo concerts and archive alternate takes are excluded. Full guest participation is retained where it is explicitly relevant.

First released means the earliest documented official public release of the selected recording. A year-only date does not assert a month or day. Later singles, chart years, compilations, remasters and reissues do not replace that date.
