RELEASE DATE & LIST YEAR

Release: 1966

Release: 1966Source checked

V3.6 reconciles the original release year with the reviewed Artist Essentials entry for this exact retained recording ID. Year precision is used; an album-first release is not silently replaced by a later single, reissue or annual-list year. Original 1966 recording on Pet Sounds. Year precision is retained; the album association is not an assertion of an exact first-release day.

The large badge identifies this listening list, not a newly issued recording. Later reissues and renewed chart popularity do not replace an original release date. How years are assigned.

Pet Sounds - official original album section
The Pet Sounds section explicitly gives the original release year 1966 and selected original track membership. Modern remaster, stereo remix, session and live labels are separated from the original program; only the original recording year is used.

ARTIST BACKGROUND

About The Beach Boys

Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.

The Beach Boys formed in Hawthorne, California in 1961 around brothers Brian, Carl and Dennis Wilson, their cousin Mike Love and friend Al Jardine. They signed with Capitol and released Surfin' Safari in 1962. The early guitar-and-harmony sound developed into increasingly detailed studio arrangements as Brian concentrated on writing and production. Pet Sounds combined elaborate backing tracks with the group's vocals, while subsequent albums brought different instrumental settings and member contributions. Their group recordings remain separate from the members' solo catalogs.
