About Engelbert Humperdinck
Engelbert Humperdinck was born Arnold Dorsey in India and grew up in Leicester, England. He worked as a saxophonist and nightclub entertainer before adopting a stage name borrowed from the German composer. Release Me established his international singing career in 1967, followed by There Goes My Everything and The Last Waltz. Las Vegas engagements and concert appearances complemented his recordings, while the later album Engelbert Calling brought together a range of duet partners.
