About Chris Rea
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
Chris Rea developed as a singer, songwriter and slide guitarist in Middlesbrough, England. Work with the bands Magdalene and Beautiful Losers preceded his solo recordings for Magnet, where producer Gus Dudgeon worked on his early albums. Whatever Happened to Benny Santini? introduced Fool (If You Think It's Over) in 1978. The Road to Hell and Auberge became later parts of a catalog that carried blues guitar influences into accessible pop songwriting.
