About Black Sheep
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
Black Sheep began as the partnership of rapper Dres and DJ-producer Mista Lawnge, connected with the Native Tongues circle. A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing introduced songs including Flavor of the Month and The Choice Is Yours in 1991. Their jazz-inflected production and comic approach continued on Non-Fiction. After lineup changes and reunion activity, Dres retained the Black Sheep name for later projects, including From the Black Pool of Genius and Tortured Soul.
