About Paul McCartney
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
Paul McCartney began his solo album career in 1970, playing nearly all the instruments on McCartney, with Linda contributing harmonies. Their jointly credited RAM followed before Wings formed. His later solo work moved between homemade experimentation and collaborations with producers including George Martin, Jeff Lynne and Nigel Godrich. McCartney II explored electronic textures, while records such as Flaming Pie and Chaos and Creation in the Backyard pursued different studio approaches. In 2020, McCartney III returned to an intimate process of building performances largely by himself.
