Annual listening-list association, not an original-release-date field. Original release year reconciled with reviewed recording-specific Artist Essentials evidence in v3.6.
Release: 2012
Release: 2012Source checked
V3.6 reconciles the original release year with the reviewed Artist Essentials entry for this exact retained recording ID. Year precision is used; an album-first release is not silently replaced by a later single, reissue or annual-list year. The original band studio recording was publicly issued in 2012, including the original single release. Its associated album does not supply an assumed exact first-release day; later live, remix and alternate presentations are distinct.
The large badge identifies this listening list, not a newly issued recording. Later reissues and renewed chart popularity do not replace an original release date. How years are assigned.
Living Things - original album and advance single
Original 2012 album metadata and narrative identify Burn It Down as the first single. The track-level date is earlier in 2012 than the album; only year precision is assigned.
Linkin Park - public distributor recording metadata
Actually retrieved public JSON identifies original tracks and release years: What I've Done 2007, Waiting for the End 2010, Burn It Down 2012, Final Masquerade 2014 and New Divide 2009. The New Divide collection January 1 placeholder is not used; the track metadata and Paramount independently support 2009. This Minutes to Midnight edition marks Bleed It Out cleaned and is not used for that selected explicit version.
About Linkin Park
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
Linkin Park developed under the earlier names Xero and Hybrid Theory before releasing the album Hybrid Theory in 2000. The lineup associated with that debut included Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington, whose performances helped establish songs such as One Step Closer, Crawling and In the End. Later projects ranged from Meteora to A Thousand Suns and One More Light. After Bennington's death in 2017 and an extended pause, the band returned with From Zero, introducing Emily Armstrong and Colin Brittain in a new recording phase.
