About Sister Sledge
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
Sister Sledge brought together Philadelphia sisters Debbie, Kathy, Joni and Kim Sledge. Their R&B vocal style reached a broad dance audience through We Are Family and He's the Greatest Dancer, both written and produced by Chic partners Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards. Their recording history also includes the debut album Circle of Love, a version of My Guy and the later Rodgers-produced Frankie. Kathy subsequently developed a separate solo career while taking part in selected reunions.
