About Rare Earth
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
Rare Earth grew from Detroit's Sunliners, a club band that combined pop and R&B covers before moving toward heavier rock. The group joined Motown in 1969 and lent its name to the company's new rock label. Its extended interpretation of Get Ready reached radio through a shorter edit. Ecology and One World followed, including (I Know) I'm Losing You and I Just Want to Celebrate, as concert touring expanded the band's audience.
