V3.6 reconciles the original release year with the reviewed Artist Essentials entry for this exact retained recording ID. Year precision is used; an album-first release is not silently replaced by a later single, reissue or annual-list year. Original 1960 studio performance in the reviewed Genius Hits the Road release history; year precision.
The large badge identifies this listening list, not a newly issued recording. Later reissues and renewed chart popularity do not replace an original release date. How years are assigned.

Inspiration and background
Researched recording background
Hoagy Carmichael and Stuart Gorrell wrote the song decades before Ray Charles recorded it for The Genius Hits the Road in 1960. Accounts of the original title's inspiration differ: a frequently repeated family interpretation contrasts with Carmichael's recollection of a suggestion to write about Georgia. The catalog does not resolve that disagreement into one certain personal story.
