About DMX
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
DMX was the recording name of Earl Simmons, whose early music developed around Yonkers, New York. DJ work and rapping led to an early single and guest appearances before It's Dark and Hell Is Hot introduced his album career in 1998. His association with Ruff Ryders accompanied solo repertoire including Get at Me Dog and Party Up. Acting in Belly and Cradle 2 the Grave extended his performance work into films.
