About Sweet
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
Sweet emerged as a British group in the late 1960s. Its well-known 1970s lineup combined Brian Connolly's lead vocals with Steve Priest, Andy Scott and Mick Tucker. Work with writers Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman and producer Phil Wainman led from Funny Funny toward harder rock arrangements and high backing vocals. Block Buster! and Ballroom Blitz were followed by the band's own Fox on the Run and later Love Is Like Oxygen.
