About Cream
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
Cream united guitarist Eric Clapton, bassist Jack Bruce and drummer Ginger Baker in a British trio that drew on blues and jazz experience. Fresh Cream combined older blues material with new compositions, including writing by Bruce and Pete Brown. The group's performances developed into extended improvisations, while its studio work retained distinct melodic songs. Wheels of Fire placed live and studio recordings together, including Crossroads and White Room. The original group concluded its farewell tour in 1968.
