Inspiration and background
Documented songwriting inspiration
Twain said she wrote this in response to doubts about whether her marriage to Mutt Lange would last and questions about her own role in their musical partnership. She began humming the melody in her kitchen, then worked on it with guitar. Lange joined her and supplied the answering vocal hook in the chorus.
Evidence scope: Twain's direct account in episode 270, pages 0-2, identifies the relationship skepticism and kitchen writing session.
