RELEASE DATE & LIST YEAR

Release: 1988

Release: 1988Source checked

V3.6 reconciles the original release year with the reviewed Artist Essentials entry for this exact retained recording ID. Year precision is used; an album-first release is not silently replaced by a later single, reissue or annual-list year. Original 1988 recording on New Jersey. Year precision is retained; the album association is not an assertion of an exact first-release day.

The large badge identifies this listening list, not a newly issued recording. Later reissues and renewed chart popularity do not replace an original release date. How years are assigned.

ARTIST BACKGROUND

About Bon Jovi

Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.

Bon Jovi formed in New Jersey in 1983 around Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, David Bryan, Tico Torres and Alec John Such. Their early albums paired hard-rock playing with prominent pop melodies, reaching a much wider audience with Slippery When Wet in 1986. New Jersey followed in 1988, while Keep the Faith and These Days developed a different balance of guitar rock and ballad writing in the 1990s. The group catalog continued through Crush and later albums, alongside separately credited member solo projects.
