About Pet Shop Boys
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
Pet Shop Boys grew from the songwriting partnership of Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe, who met in London in 1981 through a shared interest in dance music. Work with New York producer Bobby Orlando led to the first version of West End Girls in 1984. The duo also began stage performances that year, combining singing and playing with recorded backing tracks at London's Fridge nightclub.
