RELEASE DATE & LIST YEAR

Release: 2018

Release: 2018Source checked

V3.6 reconciles the original release year with the reviewed Artist Essentials entry for this exact retained recording ID. Year precision is used; an album-first release is not silently replaced by a later single, reissue or annual-list year. The original recording is documented in the 2018 release history of Man of the Woods. Only year precision is assigned; later singles, charts, remasters and live versions do not establish its first release.

The large badge identifies this listening list, not a newly issued recording. Later reissues and renewed chart popularity do not replace an original release date. How years are assigned.

Man of the Woods - original RCA program and guest credits
Original 2018 program identifies Filthy, Montana and Say Something explicitly featuring Chris Stapleton. These are the original studio recordings, not live video performances. Album context identifies Timberlake's Tennessee connection.

ARTIST BACKGROUND

About Chris Stapleton

Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.

Chris Stapleton is a Kentucky-born singer, guitarist and songwriter whose music draws on country, soul, blues and R&B. Before his solo breakthrough, he built a Nashville songwriting career with material recorded by artists including Gary Allan, Patty Loveless and Josh Turner. He also sang and played guitar with the bluegrass group the SteelDrivers and performed with the rock band the Jompson Brothers. Traveller established his solo recording identity, and his 2015 Country Music Association Awards performance with Justin Timberlake introduced that work to a wider audience.

ARTIST BACKGROUND

About Justin Timberlake

Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.

Justin Timberlake is a Tennessee singer and performer whose solo recording career followed his work in NSYNC. Justified pairs his falsetto with rhythm-focused productions by the Neptunes and Timbaland. FutureSex/LoveSounds and The 20/20 Experience extend that approach through medleys, layered vocals and long instrumental passages. Man of the Woods adds band and country-soul colors, while Everything I Thought It Was returns to a broad pop and R&B setting. His group recordings retain their separate identity.
