About Lauryn Hill
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
Lauryn Hill moved between rap and soul singing in Fugees before releasing The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in 1998. Her solo debut brought conversational rhyme, sustained melodic lines, reggae rhythms and intimate keyboard arrangements into the same album. Its guest exchanges with Carlos Santana, Mary J. Blige and D'Angelo extend that musical range. Later recordings such as Neurotic Society retain her tightly articulated delivery while changing the surrounding production.
