Heavy D was the Jamaican-born rapper, songwriter and producer Dwight Errington Myers, raised in Mount Vernon, New York. He first recorded with the Boyz for Uptown, working across hip-hop, R&B, reggae and dance. His career also included production for other artists, an executive role at Uptown and acting work alongside his own recordings.
