Inspiration and background
Researched recording background
Wayne Shanklin wrote and produced the recording. Its unusual sound came from a studio experiment: engineer Larry Levine ran a second tape at a slightly different speed while trying to strengthen the mix. The resulting moving phase effect became a defining part of the record. This is production history, not a documented personal event behind the words.
