About Journey
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
Journey's rock sound developed around guitarist Neal Schon, whose earlier experience included Santana. Keyboard player and songwriter Jonathan Cain became an important collaborator, contributing piano and synthesizer parts as well as compositions. The album Escape brought together songs such as Open Arms, Who's Crying Now, Stone in Love and Don't Stop Believin'. The band's history also includes later lead singer Arnel Pineda, whose performances with the Zoo drew Schon's attention before he joined Journey for rehearsals and recording.
