About John Denver
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
John Denver developed as a songwriter and performer in the Los Angeles folk scene before joining the Chad Mitchell Trio. Peter, Paul and Mary's recording of his Leaving on a Jet Plane introduced his writing to a wider audience. His own repertoire later included Rocky Mountain High, Take Me Home, Country Roads and Annie's Song. Concert touring and environmental advocacy became additional parts of a career that linked accessible folk and popular song with concern for the natural world.
