About Parliament
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
Parliament developed from George Clinton's earlier vocal group the Parliaments and became one of the recording identities of the larger P-Funk collective. Osmium appeared in 1970. Through the following decade, Parliament emphasized funk rhythms, elaborate stage costumes and science-fiction imagery, while the related Funkadelic recordings leaned more heavily toward psychedelic rock. Parliament's repertoire included Flash Light and Aqua Boogie. The overlapping musicians also worked in other configurations, making the specific band credit an important part of its history.
