About The Kingsmen
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
The Kingsmen began in Portland, Oregon, with teenagers Lynn Easton and Jack Ely, later adding Mike Mitchell, Bob Nordby and Don Gallucci. Playing as a local dance-club house band helped develop their repertoire before the recording of Louie Louie brought national attention. Personnel changed soon afterward, with Dick Peterson, Norm Sundholm and Barry Curtis joining a reconstituted group. Extensive touring and further recordings carried the band beyond that initial breakthrough.
