Musical Youth grew from a group of school-age musicians in Birmingham, England, with family links to Jamaican vocal group the Techniques through Frederick Waite. Their subsequent work included Unconditional Love with Donna Summer, while Seaton and Michael Grant later revived the name as a duo.
