About Sugar Ray
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
Sugar Ray emerged from Newport Beach with a sound that combined rock, punk, hip-hop and dance influences. Lemonade and Brownies introduced the band's album career in 1995. Floored followed, with Fly featuring guest vocals from dancehall performer Super Cat and bringing the group wider attention. The album 14:59 developed a more melodic pop repertoire through Every Morning, Someday and Falls Apart. A subsequent self-titled album included When It's Over, continuing that late-1990s and early-2000s period.
