Inspiration and background
Researched recording background
Hero was recorded by the twelve finalist acts from the 2008 series of The X Factor as a charity collaboration. Their version revisited the song written by Mariah Carey and Walter Afanasieff. The release supported Help for Heroes and the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal, giving the television cast a shared recording outside the weekly competition. Retained list context: Hero by X Factor Finalists is included in the 2008 annual collection. The cited source identifies its annual or chart association. A documented songwriting inspiration has not been established for this record; this is chart context, not a creative-origin account.
Evidence scope: Sourced recording or credited-performer context. Exact audio identity and private songwriting motivation are not inferred.
