ARTIST BACKGROUND

About The Corsairs

Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.

The Corsairs was a North Carolina vocal group featuring the Uzzell brothers and their cousin George Wooten. Earlier known as the Gleems, they worked with producer Abner Spector after moving into the New York and New Jersey music scene. Their Tuff recordings, including Smoky Places and I'll Take You Home, connect doo-wop harmony with early-1960s R&B.
