RELEASE DATE & LIST YEAR

Release: 2016

Release: 2016Source checked | Recent carryover

V3.6 reconciles the original release year with the reviewed Artist Essentials entry for this exact retained recording ID. Year precision is used; an album-first release is not silently replaced by a later single, reissue or annual-list year. The original 2016 single predates the Starboy album; the verified year is retained. The original recording is documented in the 2016 release history of Starboy. Only year precision is assigned; later singles, charts, remasters and live versions do not establish its first release.

The large badge identifies this listening list, not a newly issued recording. Later reissues and renewed chart popularity do not replace an original release date. How years are assigned.

Apple Music: The Weeknd - Starboy
The original 2016 album catalog identifies The Weeknd as primary artist; the selected tracks explicitly feature Daft Punk.

Apple catalog: Starboy track metadata
Starboy and I Feel It Coming have original single dates in 2016 before the November album; both recordings name Daft Punk as featured artist.

Starboy - original 2016 program and Daft Punk credits
The original album separately credits Daft Punk on Starboy and I Feel It Coming, both with pre-album 2016 single fields. Party Monster, Reminder and the original solo Die for You belong to this program; later remixes and guests do not inherit its album date.

ARTIST BACKGROUND

About Daft Punk

Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.

Daft Punk was the French electronic duo of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, formed in Paris in 1993. Its studio albums trace a route from Homework and Discovery through Human After All to Random Access Memories. The latter brought collaborators including Pharrell Williams, Nile Rodgers and Giorgio Moroder into the duo's recording process. Get Lucky belongs to that collaborative period. The group credit identifies the partnership, while each member's individual projects and guest appearances need their own credits.
