About Gary Glitter
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
Gary Glitter was the stage name adopted by English singer Paul Gadd during the early 1970s glam-rock period. He had previously recorded as Paul Raven. His performances used glittering suits and platform boots as part of a deliberately conspicuous stage image. I'm the Leader of the Gang (I Am) belongs to the run of singles associated with that 1970s recording persona.
