About Tower of Power
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
Tower of Power's sound places a substantial horn section alongside a full rhythm band. Founders Emilio Castillo and Stephen 'Doc' Kupka contributed both saxophone playing and much of the group's songwriting. Tenor and baritone saxophones combine with trumpet and flugelhorn voices, while guitar, bass, keyboards and drums support the arrangements. The band's long history includes many musicians, but the writing partnership and the interplay of horns with a tightly organized rhythm section provide a continuing musical foundation.
