About Billy Preston
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
Billy Preston developed as a keyboard player through gospel performance, touring and studio work. Early associations with Mahalia Jackson, Little Richard and Ray Charles preceded his contributions to the Beatles' Get Back project. His own recordings included Will It Go Round in Circles and Nothing from Nothing, and he co-wrote You Are So Beautiful. Work with the Rolling Stones and other performers made collaboration a substantial part of a career that also included his own vocal and instrumental releases.
