ARTIST BACKGROUND

About The Proclaimers

Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.

The Proclaimers are Scottish twin brothers Craig and Charlie Reid, whose direct singing and regional accents connect pop, folk, country and rock. They formed the duo after playing in local punk bands, and an appearance on The Tube helped launch This Is the Story and Letter from America. Sunshine on Leith expanded their sound with a full band and included I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles). Their songs later supplied the repertoire for the stage and film musical Sunshine on Leith.
