About Stray Cats
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
Stray Cats formed on Long Island with Brian Setzer on guitar and vocals, Lee Rocker on upright bass and Slim Jim Phantom on drums. A move to London helped establish their revival of rockabilly's spare, energetic sound. Rock This Town, Stray Cat Strut and Runaway Boys became recognizable recordings, and the American album Built for Speed drew from their early British releases. Rant N' Rave continued the trio's repertoire with songs including (She's) Sexy + 17 and I Won't Stand in Your Way.
