About Iron Maiden
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
Iron Maiden was formed in East London by bassist Steve Harris in 1975. The band's early albums emerged during the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, pairing forceful guitars with Harris's galloping bass patterns. Paul Di'Anno sang on the first two albums before Bruce Dickinson joined for The Number of the Beast. Extensive touring, the Live After Death concert album and the Eddie mascot became prominent parts of its identity.
