About Allan Sherman
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
Allan Sherman brought song parody from private performances and television-industry circles into a recording career at Warner Bros. George Burns helped introduce him to the label, and arranger Lou Busch supported the musical presentation of My Son, the Folk Singer. Sherman's comedy recast familiar melodies around everyday situations and Jewish cultural references, using the sound of an audience as part of the performance. My Son, the Celebrity and My Son the Nut extended that approach across further albums.
