Inspiration and background
Documented songwriting inspiration
Richard Page attributes the imagery in Broken Wings to lyricist John Lang's reading of Kahlil Gibran. In a firsthand interview, Page said Lang approached the author's estate about using the material. Page also recalled learning only after the song became a hit that its wording resembled a Beatles lyric. This is Page's account of the writing history.
Evidence scope: Firsthand songwriter account; interpretation is attributed to the participant.
