About MFSB
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
MFSB, short for Mother Father Sister Brother, was the instrumental ensemble associated with Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff's Philadelphia International label. Its musicians backed performers including the O'Jays, Spinners and Stylistics, helping define Philadelphia soul through rhythmic grooves and orchestral arrangements. The ensemble also recorded under its own name: Love Is the Message became part of the developing disco vocabulary, while T.S.O.P. was used as the theme for Soul Train.
