About Spoonie Gee
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
Spoonie Gee developed a distinctive place in early recorded hip-hop by bringing romantic themes into an MC's repertoire. His uncle, producer Bobby Robinson, was connected with the Enjoy label that issued Love Rap alongside material by Treacherous Three. Spoonin' Rap and the Sequence collaboration Monster Jam show other parts of his early catalog. Later compilations and The Boss Is Back EP kept that work connected with subsequent generations of listeners.
