About Matchbox Twenty
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
Matchbox Twenty grew from an earlier band, Tabitha's Secret, whose members included Rob Thomas, Brian Yale and Paul Doucette. Adam Gaynor and Kyle Cook joined them in the new group. The 1996 debut, Yourself or Someone Like You, introduced songs including Push, 3AM, Real World and Back 2 Good. Follow-up work such as Mad Season continued the band's recording career, distinct from Thomas's later solo albums.
