About The Jesus and Mary Chain
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
The Jesus and Mary Chain are a Scottish band built around the songwriting partnership of brothers Jim and William Reid. Emerging from East Kilbride, they placed simple pop melodies within dense guitar feedback, an approach closely associated with Psychocandy. Their early setup placed Jim on vocals and William on guitar, supported by bass and a minimal drum kit. Later work includes Munki and the 2017 album Damage and Joy. The balance between direct songs and abrasive sound became a distinctive part of their musical identity.
