About Run-DMC
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
Run-DMC brought together Joseph Simmons, Darryl McDaniels and Jason Mizell, known as Run, DMC and Jam Master Jay. Their recordings paired sharply exchanged rap lines with drum machines, scratching and, on some tracks, rock guitar. Rock Box and King of Rock developed that combination before the Aerosmith collaboration Walk This Way. Their group performance also used unison delivery and call-and-response exchanges.
