About The Pharcyde
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
The Pharcyde formed in South Central Los Angeles around Slimkid3, Fatlip, Imani and Bootie Brown. Several members had backgrounds in dance and choreography before turning their attention to group recordings. Guidance from music teacher Reggie Andrews helped them develop their studio work, and Delicious Vinyl released Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde. Touring with De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest expanded their audience before the more restrained follow-up Labcabincalifornia.
