About Whodini
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
Whodini were a hip-hop group that brought R&B elements into electro-influenced rap. The group included Brooklyn musicians Jalil Hutchins, John 'Ecstasy' Fletcher and Drew 'Grandmaster Dee' Carter. Their self-titled album featured The Haunted House of Rock and Magic's Wand, the latter made with producer Thomas Dolby. Escape followed with Five Minutes of Funk and Freaks Come Out at Night. Their participation in early large-scale hip-hop tours helped bring the music to wider audiences, and later artists used their recordings as sample sources.
