About Shop Boyz
Song-specific inspiration or recording background is not established for this entry. This sourced artist profile provides career context.
Shop Boyz developed in Atlanta's Bankhead neighborhood as the rap trio of Meany, Fat and Sheed. Their recordings placed guitar riffs, heavy bass and drums alongside hip-hop vocals, a combination the group called hood rock. Party Like a Rockstar introduced this approach to a broad audience, followed by the debut album Rockstar Mentality. The musicians continued experimenting with sounds associated with reggae, electronic dance music and country, including work with live banjo and acoustic guitar.
