David Ball's country music draws on honky-tonk, folk, blues and Western swing. Before his solo career, he sang and played upright bass in Uncle Walt's Band with Walter Hyatt and Champ Hood, building a following in Austin. Thinkin' Problem established his wider audience. Later independent albums, including Amigo and Freewheeler, continued his interest in traditional sounds, with Riding with Private Malone among his prominent recordings.
