About 8Ball & MJG
8Ball & MJG emerged from Memphis's Orange Mound neighborhood, developing through local clubs, talent shows and mixtapes. Their partnership combined 8Ball's relaxed delivery with MJG's sharper rhythmic phrasing. Comin' Out Hard appeared through Houston's Suave House in 1993, placing detailed storytelling over production connected to Southern soul. On Top of the World later included Space Age Pimpin'. The duo's work helped establish a Memphis identity within the wider development of Southern hip-hop.
